Ford Shelby Captures Circuit Of The Americas 150 Win

Billy Johnson and Scott Maxwell scored an impressive victory in Friday’s Circuit of The Americas 150, winning their fifth race of the season in the No. 15 Multimatic Motorsports Ford Shelby GT350R-C. They extended their lead in the quest for the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Championship Grand Sport (GS) title in a race run in over 90-degree heat.

It was the 22nd career victory for Johnson – tying him with Matt Plumb atop the all-time list – and 15th for Maxwell, who tied Eric Curran and Terry Borcheller for eighth.

Texans Mosing, Foss Win ST At COTA In Porsche

Texans Jeff Mosing and Eric Foss won the trophy in Street Tuner (ST), with the drivers of the No. 56 Murillo Racing/Mosing Motorcars Porsche Cayman keeping their championship hopes alive with their second victory of the season.

Mosing passed Owen Trinkler in the No. 44 CRG-I Do Borrow Nissan Altima with 44 minutes remaining, and led the final 18 laps.

Scott Maxwell captured his fifth TOTAL Pole Award of the season in IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge qualifying for Friday’s Circuit of The Americas 150. The Canadian ran a lap of 2:23.439 (85.3 mph) in the No. 15 Multimatic Motorsports Ford Shelby GT350R-C co-driven by Billy Johnson, extending his series-leading total to 15 career poles.

Coming off its first IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Grand Sport (GS) class victory, Austin-based CJ Wilson Racing will look to gain additional momentum at its home track in Friday’s Circuit of The Americas 150.

Danny Burkett and Marc Miller drove the No. 33 ONE Capital Management/MotorOilMatters.org Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport to victory in the most recent round at VIRginia International Raceway. With only two races remaining, Burkett and Miller trail GS leaders Scott Maxwell and Billy Johnson by 20 points, 260-240.

Mosing Not Counting Out Title Hopes

Riding a four-race streak of top-five finishes of the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge in the No. 56 Murillo Racing Porsche Cayman, Austin resident Jeff Mosing is looking to continue that trend in the upcoming Circuit of The Americas 150. After placing fifth with Eric Foss at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Lime Rock Park, the team rebounded from an incident early in opening practice to take third at Road America last month, a result they matched in the most recent round at VIRginia International Raceway.

Multimatic Motorsports and RS1 added to their respective IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge class leads by winning the recent event at Road America, giving both teams added momentum entering Saturday’s Oak Tree Grand Prix at VIRginia International Raceway.

Scott Maxwell and Billy Johnson scored their third consecutive victory – and fourth of the season – at Road America in the No. 15 Multimatic Motorsports Ford Shelby GT350R-C. They now lead the Grand Sport (GS) class by 23 points, 228-205, with only three races remaining in the 2016 season.

MINI JCW Team put another notch in its belt at Road America, with Mat Pombo giving the team its first fastest race lap in IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge completion in the No. 73 Shopminiusa.com/ATELIER MINI John Cooper Works.

Pombo turned a lap of 2:31.809 (96.0 mph) on the 18th lap – just before the one-hour mark – while running 23rd in the Street Tuner (ST) field. Pombo had taken over for Derek Jones moments earlier, with the team making an unscheduled pit stop to take advantage of a caution flag.
