Mercedes-AMG GT4 Breaks Cover

Race teams and drivers looking to compete in the 2018 IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge now have yet another option to consider.

As part of the build up to this weekend’s 24-hour race at the famed Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, Mercedes-AMG officially unveiled the new Mercedes-AMG GT4 race car, which is based on the Mercedes-AMG GT R road car. Built to international GT4 technical regulations, the car is eligible to compete in the Continental Tire Challenge Grand Sport (GS) class.

Tough Day at Lime Rock for GTD Title Contenders

While Joerg Bergmeister did what he almost always does at Lime Rock Park to give Park Place Motorsports and co-driver Patrick Lindsey their first victory since 2015, the Northeast Grand Prix wasn’t particularly kind to any of the top championship contenders in the WeatherTech Championship GT Daytona (GTD) class.

Defending champions Alessandro Balzan and Christina Nielsen came into the race with podium finishes in six consecutive races, but still looking for their first 2017 victory in the No. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 488 GT3.

No. 3 Corvette Racing Team Gets Breathing Room in GTLM Championship Race

Following the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park two weeks ago, which was the second consecutive GT Le Mans (GTLM) class victory for No. 25 BMW Team RLL co-drivers Bill Auberlen and Alexander Sims, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship class point standings had tightened up considerably.

BUBBA burger Extends Official Partnership With IMSA

Extending a partnership that began in 2016, officials from the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) and BUBBA burger today confirmed a three-year extension, making BUBBA burger the Official Burger of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship through at least the 2020 season.

New Porsche Goes 1-2 in Caution-Free WeatherTech Championship Race at Lime Rock

The two-car Porsche GT Team has come on strong since returning from the traditional midseason break for IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship teams to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and both cars delivered on Saturday afternoon at Lime Rock Park, when the team finished 1-2 in the two-hour and 40-minute Northeast Grand Prix.

Leading the way in a race that featured the WeatherTech Championship GT Le Mans (GTLM) and GT Daytona (GTD) classes was 2015 WeatherTech Championship GTLM champion Patrick Pilet and Dirk Werner in the No. 911 Porsche 911 RSR.

Bruni Gives Porsche 450th Major North American Sports Car Pole at Lime Rock

Italian racer Gianmaria “Gimmi” Bruni spent quite a few years battling against Porsches in top-level sports car racing around the world while driving for another manufacturer, but it hasn’t taken him long to get used to his new job as a Porsche works driver.

 

In qualifying for Saturday’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park, Bruni gave Porsche its 450th pole position in major North American sports car competition, extending the German manufacturer’s lead to 100 over Chevrolet, its next closest competitor.
