Lexus Looking To Roll Momentum Into First Podium, Victory At Lime Rock

The GT Daytona (GTD) class in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship has been a manufacturer showcase this season with nine OEMs making at least one start, and debut wins from Acura and Mercedes-AMG in their first full season in the class, joining Porsche and Audi in the win column.

One manufacturer looking to add its name to that list is Lexus, which is amid its inaugural campaign with the RC F GT3 and has been knocking on the door of its first win, as evidenced by the most recent WeatherTech Championship race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Mazda Team Joest Set for 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Debut

In a surprise announcement this morning, Mazda Motorsports announced the creation of “Mazda Team Joest” to become its new factory Mazda Prototype team in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship beginning with the 2018 Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Porsche Poised for WeatherTech Championship GT Le Mans Breakthrough at Lime Rock

For the first two days of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on July 7-9, the Porsche GT Team established itself as the team to beat in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class.

The team’s pair of Porsche 911 RSR race cars – which were brand new at the start of the season and now feature a configuration that puts the engine in front of the rear axle – went 1-2 in both practice sessions that Friday and Dirk Werner led the third practice and qualified on pole in the team’s No. 911 entry on Saturday.

As the summer stretch continues for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, two of its four classes will take to the track next weekend at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Conn. The GT Le Mans (GTLM) and GT Daytona (GTD) classes are set to be featured in the first of two GT-only showdowns in 2017 at next weekend’s Northeast Grand Prix on Saturday, July 22.

Cameron, Curran Give Cadillac DPi Win in Action-Packed Race At CTMP

Dane Cameron survived a wet and wild final 50 minutes Sunday to win the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

In a race that saw changing weather conditions and various pit strategies between teams opting for wet weather or “slick” dry-weather tires, Cameron had to hold off a hard-charging Stephen Simpson in the rain over the final minutes to score his first win of the season for the No. 31 Whelen Engineering Racing Cadillac DPi-V.R team and co-driver Eric Curran.
