IMSA Cars To Feature Patriotic Liveries at Watkins Glen

One of the biggest attractions on Fourth of July weekend for sports car racing fans will be the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, an endurance classic held at Watkins Glen International featuring the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Business as Usual for Motorsports In Action

It’s business as usual for Motorsports In Action (MIA) in the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, although the team’s last race was anything but.

The No. 69 McLaren GT4, one of two cars for the Quebec-based team, arrived at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in May with confidence after a promising start to the season.

At the season-opening four-hour endurance race at Daytona, the car ran inside the top five and battled for the lead before late contact took the team out of contention. However, they quickly bounced back at Sebring to land on the podium in second place.

All four IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship classes return to action for the first time since the Advance Auto Parts Sportscar Showdown at Circuit of The Americas on May 6 as the series makes its annual trek to the historic Watkins Glen International circuit for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen on Sunday, July 2.

Wild 24 Hours of Le Mans Ends with Two WeatherTech Championship Cars on Podium

Jordan Taylor was one lap from adding a 24 Hours of Le Mans victory to an incredible 2017 season that has seen him take five-consecutive wins in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, including the Rolex 24 At Daytona and Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

Risi Ready for “David vs. Goliath” Reprise at Le Mans

The GTE Pro class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans – not unlike the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship – is, by and large, the domain of factory race teams.

The competing manufacturers commit substantial resources to these racing programs, expecting a return on their investment in the form of trophies, and they’ve certainly taken home plenty of trophies over the years. But, every now and then, an “underdog” sneaks in and runs away with the big prize.

Tommy Milner and Oliver Gavin know what it takes to win. They’ve certainly done a reasonable amount of it over the past couple of years.

Two years ago, they won the GTE Pro class in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, sharing the No. 64 Corvette Racing Chevrolet Corvette C7.R with another WeatherTech Championship regular, Jordan Taylor.

Scuderia Corsa Doubles Down in Search of Repeat Glory at Le Mans

Since its formation in 2011, Scuderia Corsa has won many of the crown jewels of sports car racing. The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. The Motul Petit Le Mans. The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GT Daytona class (twice). And last year, Scuderia Corsa claimed victory in the GTE Am class in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with drivers Bill Sweedler, Townsend Bell and Jeff Segal.

IMSA Championship Leaders Join Forces for 24 Hours of Le Mans

If there’s one driver lineup bringing momentum into this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, it’s that of the No. 43 Keating Motorsports Riley MK30 Gibson.

The all-IMSA trio of Jeroen Bleekemolen, Ben Keating and Ricky Taylor will be piloting the only Multimatic/Riley chassis in this weekend’s twice around the clock event, competing alongside 24 other competitors in the LM P2 class.

The triple-threat lineup was announced back in March, but nobody could have imagined the success the three drivers would bring into June.
